Otter Cove

Belle Island Village has partnered with the Knoxville Zoo to create "Otter Cove", a permanent habitat that will be home to five North American River Otters. The exhibit features a 3,000 square foot outdoor habitat which includes pools, waterfalls, viewing areas and stages for presentations and educational events. It also includes a 1,000 square foot indoor area for otter sleeping quarters, along with kitchen and medical care facilities. In addition to the exhibit, the Knoxville Zoo will have its own "Otter Cove" 1,700 square foot retail store featuring zoo merchandise, displays, educational areas, demonstrations and interactive exhibits.

Otters are fun loving mammals that really know how to put on a show! Watching them slide, wrestle, belly-flop and play with objects is a simply delightful. Come watch their playful antics and take home souvenirs for the entire family!
